Suspected sham marriages were stopped just before the ceremonies at the Archbishop’s Palace in Maidstone

A community get together to clean up damage from the flood has been cancelled.

Maidstone Council had called on residents to show community spirit by heading to the Archbishops Palace this Thursday (January 2) to lend a hand.

It was forced to cancel the plans after reports from the Environment Agency suggested there was still a risk of flooding.

About 50 people were needed needed to take part in a variety of tasks which were scheduled to being at 9am.

The event will be reorganised and if you would like to volunteer your services email John Edwards on johnedwards@maidstone.gov.uk

An email for flood related requests has also been set up by the council, its address is FloodResponse@maidstone.gov.uk.

Alternatively call 01622 602750.
