Police remained on the scene while the gutted vehicle is removed.

It is not yet known if anyone was injured or if the fire is being treated as suspicious.

A Kent Police spokesman said: "KFRS called Kent Police at 4.12pm as the car fire was causing an obstruction. The owner was in the car when it caught light, so it's not being treated as suspicious. It was all brought under control and police were in attendance until shortly after 5pm."
