Maidstone: Emergency services called to vehicle fire on coastbound M20, close to Leeds Castle

Emergency services were called to a flat-bed truck alight on the M20 this evening.

Long queues just before J8 (Leeds/Maidstone Services), on the coastbound carriageway, were earlier causing delays to motorists.

Two fire crews were called to the blaze at 4.22pm. They left the scene around half-an-hour later.

The motorway was closed at 4.34pm, reopening just before 4.55pm.

It's thought the van had caught alight on the hard shoulder.
