Charity football match at the Gallagher Stadium in tribute to Coxheath footballer Jordan Chambers who died following an asthma attack

Friends of a sporty 17-year-old are holding a charity football match to mark the first anniversary of his death.

Jordan Chambers, who was studying computing at Mid Kent College, suffered a severe asthma attack last year and died at Maidstone hospital three days later.

After struggling to breathe the teenager, of Northumberland Road in Maidstone, went to his GP surgery where he suffered a cardiac arrest.

A year on, members of Coxheath and Farleigh Junior Football Club, who Jordan played for are paying tribute.

The game is being organised by Neil Hadley, chairman, and friend and player Matt Hazelwood.

Mr Hadley said Jordan was a talented footballer and well respected on and off the pitch.

He added: “I cannot begin to understand how his parents Steve and Jane, sister Sarah-Jane and family have adapted to life without Jordan given that at the time of passing he was still three months short of his 18th birthday.”

The student’s former club, Coxheath and Farleigh Under-18s, will be playing Jordan’s All Stars, made up of school friends. Kick-off is at 10am on Saturday, May 30 at the Gallagher Stadium in James Whatman Way and proceeds going to Asthma UK.

Entry is by programme, which will be sold for £5 donations at the ground on the day.
