A derailed train, lightning strike and fallen tree confirmed the phrase bad luck comes in threes for Kent commuters.

Those who had struggled to get home to Kent following problems in London last night - including a lightning strike which knocked out high speed services and a derailed freight train on the London to Hastings line at Robertsbridge - woke this morning to find their woes were not over.

A fallen tree on the line meant trains could not run between Ashford International and Maidstone East until the line was cleared at about 8am this morning. Services were then able to resume but were subject to delays.

Meanwhile the derailed train at Robertsbridge continues to affect services. A special service is running at 10 and 40 minutes past each hour from Robertsbridge to Tonbridge and fast to London Bridge. Return trains are running at 15 and 45 minutes past the hour from London to Tonbridge and all stations to Robertsbridge.
