After a visit from Maidstone Borough Council (MBC) officers for a site assessment, they were ordered to leave by 3pm yesterday.

The travellers were ordered to leave by 10am on this morning.

He said: "This is because the group failed to leave the site by 3pm yesterday as the eviction notice stated. Should the court order be granted, the travellers will hopefully move off by the end of the day, and if not then very early tomorrow morning.

"Maidstone Borough Council will be asking the police to attend with council officers to minimise disruption to the local community."

The group now has until 10am tomorrow to leave.
