A229 Royal Engineers' Road in Maidstone blocked at Barrack's roundabout after van overturns in crash

A man has been taken to hospital following a crash that closed a main road in Maidstone this afternoon.

The A229 Royal Engineers' Road was blocked in both directions at the Barrack's roundabout due to the crash, in which a van overturned.

The smash, which happened at about 12.45pm, also involved a lorry.

Traffic has been queuing back to J6 of the M20 for the A249.

Police and ambulance crews are at the scene.

A man in his 50s was taken to Tunbridge Wells Hospital with neck and back pain.

He was transported to an ambulance on a longboard but had been able to get out of the vehicle himself.

The road was cleared by 3.30pm
