by Kent Messenger reporter

Firefighters were called to Blue Bell Hill to tackle a crop blaze.

Two crews arrived at the scene just after 4.45pm today, to find 50 sqm of corn and fencing had caught alight.

The incident was reported on the Chatham-bound carriageway near Cobtree Manor Park Golf Course.

One lane is currently blocked but not because of the fire. A car has broken down between the golf club and the petrol station further up the A229.

Drivers are warned to approach with caution and to expect delays.

Queues are back to the Harvester restaurant in Maidstone Road.
