Fire fighters were scrambled last night following reports of youths setting fires in Maidstone.

One crew attended James Whatman Way at 7.43pm and discovered a small blaze under some wooden stairs.

The fire, which is thought to have been deliberate, was extinguished, with officers leaving the scene at 8.10pm.

A police spokesman confirmed the incident has not been reported to them.
