Teston Bridge still closed

A reminder to add to the woes of motorists travelling around Maidstone and its environs, who are still struggling to cope with the closure of the M20 this weekend.

Teston Bridge is still closed while repairs are carried out to the historic parapet.

The bridge was damaged in June after the wall was struck by a vehicle and partially collapsed.

Although it was quickly re-opened after temporary repairs, permanent reconstruction is now taking place and there s no through access between the A26 Tonbridge Road and the B2010 Lower Road at this point.

The alternative route is via the A26 Tonbridge Road, B2015 Bow Road/Maidstone Road, B2162 Hampstead Lane/Benover Road, B2010 High Street/Yalding Hill/Smith’s Hill to Lower Road.
