An e-fit has been released of a suspected violent robber who attacked a pensioner earlier this month.

Lesley Wilson, 69, was robbed of her bag, which contained just £11, as she walked home from the Old House at Home pub in Maidstone on Sunday, May 6.

During the robbery, Mrs Wilson was struck in the face and required three butterfly stitches.

Despite the incident the widow was back dancing at the same pub four days later.

Prominent landlord Fergus Wilson heard about the incident and has stepped-in with a reward offer.

Mr Wilson, of Boughton Monchelsea, said: "I am sick and tired of reading of old people being assaulted by thugs in Maidstone.

"I am putting up a reward of £1,000 for information leading to the successful prosecution of the culprit.

"It is an absolute disgrace that such assaults take place.

"It is the most appalling treatment so I’ve put up the reward to help police identify who the culprit is and I have written to Kent Police’s chief constable."

Police are continuing their appeal for the public's help to track down the robber.

The incident happened on a footpath leading from County Hall to Lower Boxley Road at around 11.45pm.

The attacker is described as mixed race, around 5ft 6ins tall.

He had black hair, a short beard and was wearing a black hooded top, black tracksuit bottoms and white trainers.
