Southeastern train delays between Maidstone West and Strood following electricity problems at Halling

Commuters faced disruption on the trains this morning after electrical problems at Halling.

The fault meant that trains were unable to run between Maidstone West and Strood.

It affected services between Maidstone West and London St Pancras International and Paddock Wood and Strood from 6.15am.

Twelve trains were cancelled and services were delayed until 10am.

A replacement bus services ran in each direction between Strood and Maidstone West from 7.45am.

A spokesman for Southeastern said:"We worked with Network Rail to get the line reopened as quickly as possible and trains were able to run again from 8.50am.

"We’re sorry for the inconvenience that this morning’s problems have caused and we encourage anyone who was delayed by 30 minutes or more to claim compensation under the delay repay scheme, details of which are available on our website."
