Faulty traffic lights cause delays in Maidstone

Drivers were told to expect delays this morning after traffic lights stopped working at a busy Maidstone junction.

Kent Highways warned motorists to approach the Loose Road, where it joins The Wheatsheaf pub, with care while engineers worked to repair the lights.

Queues had started to build in all four directions by 8am.

A lane closure in Lower Stone Street also added to delays. A police cordon has remained at the town centre road since a murder investigation began on Sunday evening. It's not known how long the forensic team will spend at the scene.
