Firefighters were called to extinguish a house fire in Maidstone last night.

A pair of fire engines attended the two storey property in St Luke’s Road at 7pm.

The blaze had started underneath a stone hearth and crews had to use tools to expose the fire.

They were at the scene for 55 minutes and used a hose to put the fire out before using a fan to ventilate the room.
