Garage destroyed after fire in Eccles

Firefighters wore breathing apparatus when they tackled a house fire shortly after Christmas.

Three fire engines arrived on the scene after the emergency services were alerted to a fire in Eccles at 8.30pm last night.

A garage was destroyed, but fire crews managed to prevent the blaze from significantly damaging the adjoining house and roof.

At 11pm two fire engines remained on the scene.

There are no reports of casualties.
