Maidstone nightclub relaxes rules on high-end fashion footwear

Maidstone’s most exclusive nightclub has relaxed its rules to allow in revellers wearing trainers costing more than £300.

On Monday Gallery Nightclub, in Bank Street, revealed clientele wearing Prada, Gucci and Balenciaga shoes would be allowed in.

Following a negative backlash on Facebook the unnamed manager revealed any “box fresh” black trainers would be allowed in, but said he would prefer customers still wore smart shoes.

He said: “It was to stop the stick with door staff really and any aggro.

“Where they let them in up in London with those trainers we were getting a lot of Pradas and it seemed like everyone we were turning away was wearing these types of shoes.

“It is down to us what we won’t let it to the club. We were getting lots of messages from people asking why they can’t wear their £300 trainers.

“We were lending people shoes and people were walking out and taking the shoes and then having us to send them their shoes.”

The manager also revealed the club refused entry to those wearing trainers before the decision but offered people the chance to borrow footwear provided by the nightclub.

The venue received up to 15 message per week asking if their footwear would be acceptable and decided to review its footwear rules.

He said: “We have had people going to Source Bar and coming with their air bubble trainers that are filthy and we won’t let them in.

“If they are box fresh trainers then they’re fine. Balenciagas are very popular at the moment and the post was just showing shoes we have seen recently.”
