Grandmother Sonia Roberts from Otham prepares for a wingwalk at Headcorn Aerodrome

A daredevil grandmother of five from Otham will be walking on the wings of a plane in a bid to raise money for charity.

Sonia Roberts, 46, got the idea after her brother-in-law did a parachute jump.

She said: “I felt sick watching him and thought if I can’t jump out of a plane then maybe I could stand on one.”

She will be doing the daring stunt on Saturday, July 5, in aid of the Heart of Kent Hospice and Mencap Cobtree Playschool, taking off from Headcorn Aerodrome.

Sonia, who works at the Three Bears nursery in Bearsted, added: “Although I’m going to be petrified, the thought of doing something new and adventurous pushes me on to support the fantastic people who work for these charities.

“I know a few people who have used the hospice and my grandson has been helped by the play group.

“The most daring thing I’ve done in the past is scuba diving so the only way is up now!”
