Controversial nightclub Halloween decorations on Bank Street in Maidstone

A club's £20,000 Halloween display is catching shoppers’ attention.

A robotic ghoul and witch have been placed at the doors of the newly refurbished Gallery SuperClub nightclub on Bank Street in Maidstone town centre where passers-by are stopping to take a look and snap photos.

The witch, whose eyes light up, is swinging a model child by the feet.

But not all parents are worried.

Suzanne Jonas, interior designer for Mayfair Construction which renovated the venue, said: “People are laughing, children are crying, parents are coming up and saying to their kids ‘If you don’t behave the witch will do that to you.’”

“I think people are loving it but there have been mixed reactions.”

The spooky figures, which came from the US, are just two of the pieces that have been bought by the nightclub as part of its new Halloween decorations, costing around £20,000 in total.
