Maidstone hospice disturbance sparks police response

Workers at a hospice were forced to call police after a disturbance broke out.

Staff at the Heart of Kent Hospice in Aylesford raised the alarm with police at around 1pm and nobody suffered injuries during the altercation.

A spokesman for the hospice confirmed there was a disturbance but thanked the force for their help in dealing with the situation.

They said: “We can confirm we have had a disturbance at the hospice. We are very grateful to the police.

“Nobody here was hurt and the police were gone within 40 minutes.”

A spokesman for Kent Police added: “We were called at 1.06pm to a report of a disturbance in Preston Hall, Aylesford.

“Officers were at the scene and the disturbance is believed to be between a number of people who are known to each other. No injuries have been reported and no arrests made.”

This was the second time emergency services have been called to the Preston Hall site in the space of 24 hours.

A small fire broke out at a neighbouring chapel and was put out by quick-thinking staff who used a fire extinguisher.
