Lightning strikes in Cranbrook and causes spectacular skies in Maidstone

Lightning and storms created spectacular night skies last night - as one house was struck during the storm.

Firefighters tackled a house in Cranbrook struck, with two fire engines called to the property in Tenterden Road at 9.50pm.

The main fire in the roof space was out when crews arrived but they cut away and dampened any remaining hot spots.

There are no reported injuries from the incident.

Meanwhile, in nearby Shepway, Nicholas Harper captured these dramatic images in the skies around Cambridge Crescent.

Huge lightning bolts were seen forking across the skies - lightening up the darkness and creating these spectacular images.

But it was not just the skies above Maidstone that provided a light show. Thomas Martin captured a gloomy sky over Herne Bay seafront.
