A Maidstone roundabout has been closed due to a large oil spillage.

Kent Highways is warning drivers the Cobtree Roundabout - at the junction between the A229 Blue Bell Hill and the M20 at Junction 6 - is likely to be closed for some time, possibly into the evening rush-hour.

Maidstone-bound A229 traffic is being diverted onto the M20 towards Junction 7 for Detling. M20 traffic exiting at Junction 6 is being diverted up the A229 Blue Bell Hill, Chatham-bound, and back down to follow the above diversion.

Police officers, Kent County Council workers and Highways England representatives are at the scene.

Commuters are asked to use an alternate route where possible and expect long delays in the area.
