Maidstone man one of two bailed in connection with murder

A Maidstone man is one of two men who have been bailed after being arrested on suspicion of murdering a businessman.

The men were arrested in connection with the death of Julian Gardner at his home in Robertsbridge, East Sussex, on October 11.

A 43-year-old from Maidstone and a 39-year-old from Ashford, arrested on Wednesday, December 22, have been bailed until Wednesday, February 2.

The body of Mr Gardner, 53, was found at Bush Barn Farm, off the A21 north of Robertsbridge.

Detectives investigating his death believe this was a burglary that went tragically wrong.

Mr Gardner, it is believed, disturbed an unknown number of people in outbuildings where he ran an agricultural and car repair business.

Eleven people, including one from Tunbridge Wells, have now been arrested in connection with the inquiry and nine have been released on bail until early next year.
