Sport Relief three and six mile events cancelled at Mote Park, Mote Avenue Maidstone

Two major Sport Relief events in Maidstone have been cancelled just days before they were due to take place, due to bad weather.

More than 100 runners have been told that the charity three and six mile run, due to take place at Mote Park on Sunday, has been pulled due to waterlogging.

The one mile run will go ahead as advertised, starting at 12 noon.

Sport Relief will be contacting everyone affected, and they will be offered a refund or places on runs elsewhere, including the Maidstone one mile run.

Application prices were £6, £3 for children and £15 for families.

The event is organised jointly by the charity and Maidstone Borough Council.

This year 205 runners registered for the runs, including 50 for the six mile and 68 for the three mile courses.

Some of the three and six milers will run the one mile in Maidstone and in three and six mile runs elsewhere.

Last year 1,200 people took part in the event.
