Hundreds of bargain hunters queued outside TK Maxx in Maidstone on Saturday - eager to get their hands on a freebie.

The St Peter's Steet store announced it would be celebrating its reopening after a major revamp by presenting the first 200 customers with a £10 gift voucher.

More than 100 people queued from as early as 7.50am, despite the fact the shop did not open until 10am.

Tiffany Porter was first in line and was given the honour of cutting the ceremonial ribbon to officially declare the store open for business.

TK Maxx spokesman Helen Gunter said: “We had a fantastic opening day. It was really exciting to welcome new customers into our store and receive a very warm welcome from them. There was a real buzz about the place.”
