A man has been arrested after police uncovered a cannabis cultivation at a house in Maidstone.

On February 16, officers were called to an address on London Road and uncovered 24 cannabis plants, in various stages of cultivation. Detectives seized the plants, as well as lighting and other equipment designed to help the plants grow. Police also seized a large quantity of herbal cannabis.

A 23-year-old man from Maidstone was arrested on suspicion of cultivating cannabis and supplying a controlled drug. He was also arrested on suspicion of possessing counterfeit currency.

Det Con Claire Davey from Kent Police said: “Seizing drugs stops people profiting from selling illegal substances, and also helps reduce other associated crime, such as theft and anti-social behaviour. In this instance, the local neighbourhood officers were in the area on another matter, but caught the scent of the cannabis and further investigation led to us making an arrest. I would encourage anyone who suspects drug use or dealing in their area to contact us so we can investigate.”
