Police said he was in a "serious condition."

A spokesperson from Secamb said: "The man required CPR and was resuscitated prior to being taken to Maidstone Hospital still in a serious condition."

The glass-fronted Society Rooms is a JD Wetherspoon pub and is part of Brenchley House.

Eye-witness Dan Wilkinson said: "I counted seven police vehicles, three medical vehicles and a fire engine at the scene.

"The covered entrance area was cordoned off with police tape and there was some kind of black tarpaulin tent set up at the entrance doors.

"There was a man who appeared to be in his mid-50s being tended to on the ground."
