Man sustains burns while trying to tackle chimney fire at pub in Hawkhurst village

A man was treated for burns after trying to tackle a chimney blaze at a pub in Hawkhurst.

Firefighters spent an hour at the undisclosed pub in The Moor area after a man was reported to have sustained minor injuries to his arm while attempting to tackle the blaze at lunchtime today.

One fire engine attended the incident, with crews using specialist chimney equipment to extinguish the fire and thermal imaging camera to check for remaining hotspots before leaving at 1.45pm.

The man was given first aid at the scene.
