Man threatens to jump off King's Street car park roof at The Chequers, Mall, Maidstone

A man has been taken to hospital after threatening to jump off a roof.

Police were called at around 9am after receiving reports he had scaled the The Mall's car park which is located in King's Street.

The man, aged between 35 and 40, was persuaded to come down.

Inspector Preston Chalk was at the scene. He said: "He was emotionally unstable. He tried to take his own life and we managed to talk him down. He was then taken to Maidstone Hospital."
