It’s a phrase often used to knock local newspapers, but a cat really was stuck up a tree in Maidstone this morning.

The moggy was rescued by fire crews after RSPCA attempts to tempt it down failed.

A height vehicle from Medway was used to bring the feline to safety after it scaled a 15 metre tree in Boughton Lane, Loose, Maidstone.

Crews were called at about 10am and an hour later, the cat was handed over to RSPCA staff at the scene.
