A mum being sued by millionaire property mogul Fergus Wilson has turned to crowdfunding to try and raise enough money for legal help.

The 68-year-old brought Carley Ingram to court, following allegations she made against him in May 2014.

The mum-of-four, 37, told police the landlord had made advances towards her at the house she rented in Stagshaw Close, Maidstone, and later that he had demanded sexual favours from other tenants.

Mr Wilson, of Heath Road, Boughton Monchelsea, was arrested and put on bail for four months, but was later released without charge due to a lack of corroborating evidence.

He now seeks to claim up to £10,000, from Miss Ingram for harassment, saying the claims were made maliciously.

But earlier this week Kent Online reported on how the case may have to restart, after the judge's notes of the initial hearing, in July 2016, had been lost.

When the case was first heard, the 37-year-old represented herself, but said the stress and anxiety from the ordeal had caused panic attacks and made her ill.

Now, Miss Ingram is trying to raise £2,000 for a lawyer to defend her.

On her crowdfunding page, on website JustGiving, she said: "I have lost my home, my health and my job. Please help me not lose this case."

The hearing will be at Maidstone County Court on August 16.
