Organisers of Music on The Hill have announced that this year’s festival has raised £80,000 for Demelza Hospice Care for Children and Teens Unite Fighting Cancer.

The three day festival, which took place in Kings Hill from Friday, July 19 to Sunday, July 21, featured performances from McFly, Peter Andre, Jools Holland, Stooshe and Joe McElderry.

100% of the profits went to Demelza and Teens Unite in the event organised by the Children’s Development Trust.

Trustee and Event Director, Colin Thacker, said "We are very pleased that we have been able to make the donation to Demelza and Teens Unite.

“Music on The Hill takes a lot of planning and is an expensive event to stage, with artists’ fees in particular being the major cost.

“We were blessed to have had some truly amazing supporters who donated money, equipment and time and that made a huge difference.

“Whilst it is great to be able to make a financial contribution, a big part of Music on The Hill is the participation of the children and teenagers that the charities support and their families.

“For me, personally, the highlight of the weekend was the chance for the children and teenagers to meet the artists and to be part of the festival itself, especially giving them use of the VIP area.

“Thank you to everyone that bought a ticket and who supported the event in any way, it was truly appreciated."

Karen Millen OBE Founder of Teens Unite said: “We were overwhelmed to hear what a phenomenal total was raised through this year’s Music on the Hill.

“We could not be more thankful to everyone that supported the event who in turn is helping us to support more teenagers.”

Liz Haigh-Reeve, Director of Income Generation at Demelza said: “The children and families are still talking about what an exciting weekend they had at Music on the Hill.

“We are so grateful to everyone who helped make this event possible and to everyone who supported it. Thank you!”
