Maidstone: Police officers 'spat at and assaulted' while making separate arrests on the same day

Police officers were reportedly spat at and then assaulted just hours later while making separate arrests in Maidstone.

Patrols were called to Harrietsham at 3.30pm on Saturday following a disturbance outside a house in West Street.

When they arrived, they found Aaron Hook at the scene who allegedly spat at them while he was being arrested.

The 27-year-old of no fixed address was later charged with an assault relating to an incident on February 3 and an assault, criminal damage and assaulting five police officers on Saturday, February 17.

Mr Hook appeared before Maidstone Magistrates’ Court on Monday where he was remanded to appear before the same court on Monday, February 26.

Patrols were also called to a disturbance in Norfolk Road, Maidstone at 10.20pm on Saturday night.

On arrival they arrested a 39-year-old local man on suspicion of a public order offence, obstructing an officer and being drunk and disorderly in a public place.

He was later released from custody under investigation and has been summonsed to appear before Maidstone Magistrates Court on Friday, March 23 in connection with two public order offences, obstructing a police officer and assaulting a police officer in the execution of their duty.
