Heavy congestion on A25 Maidstone Road at Wrotham Heath after crash between car and lorry causes oil spill

Commuters suffered long delays in Wrotham Heath after a crash this morning.

A woman had to be cut free from her vehicle after a smash between a car and lorry on the A25 Maidstone Road.

Firefighters were called at shortly before 6am and used hydraulic cutting equipment to remove the roof.

They freed the woman, thought to be about 25, who was taken to hospital by ambulance.

The road was blocked in both directions after the smash, which also led to an oil spill.

Commuter traffic quickly began to build on the A25 near Windmill Hill and delays were into late morning.

The road closure also caused knock-on delays along the A20 and A227.
