Police officer Adam Provan denies Leeds Castle rapes

A police constable has denied raping two women at Leeds Castle.

PC Adam Provan, 38, is accused of raping one woman twice in 2010 and another woman four times between April 2016 and January 2017.

Three of the charges from last year relate to alleged rapes in the grounds of the landmark and tourist attraction near Maidstone.

He is also charged with one count of indecent assault of a 15-year-old which allegedly took place in December 2002.

Provan, who was attached to the East Area Command Unit based in Barking and Dagenham, was charged in September.

The Metropolitan Police say he has been suspended from duty.

Today at Snaresbrook Crown Court, Provan, wearing a dark blue suit, white shirt and dark tie, spoke to confirm his name and to plead not guilty to all seven counts.

Judge Charlotte English set a date for trial, which is estimated to last two weeks, for April 23, to take place at Wood Green Crown Court.

Provan, of Newmarket, Suffolk, was granted conditional bail, to appear at Wood Green Crown Court on March 23, for a preliminary hearing.
