Pedestrian hit by car on B2163 Heath Road, Boughton Monchelsea

Police are appealing for witnesses after an elderly woman was hit by a car in Boughton Monchelsea.

Heath Road was closed at the junction of Green Lane and Gandys Lane for more than five hours following the collision, at 9.15am yesterday.

The woman, in her 80s, is reported to have been crossing the road behind a stationary white refuse lorry, facing towards Chart Sutton, when she was struck by a Grey Audi A4 which was travelling towards Linton crossroads.

An ambulance and paramedic attended, and were joined by a road crew from Kent, Surrey and Sussex Air Ambulance.

She was taken to Kings College Hospital with a head injury, where she is now in a stable condition.

Police are asking any witnesses to the collision to get in touch.
