A perfume thief who raided an Allington chemist has been jailed for six months.

Bernard Prebble broke into Lloyds Pharmacy, in Castle Road, on November 10 and escaped with more than £2,500 worth of fragrance, Maidstone Crown Court heard on Tuesday.

But the 40-year-old, formerly of Melville Road, cut himself as he smashed a glass panel in the front door to get in, and the bloodstain he left behind was matched to his DNA.

Prebble initially denied the crime before pleading guilty.

Prebble was also ordered to pay an £80 victim surcharge.

At 3.15am on Monday, November 11, a Lloyds Pharmacy in Tonbridge Road was also targeted by perfume thieves.

Two men, aged 27 and 43, were arrested at a private address and have been bailed until Monday, February 17.

Police say the incidents are not linked.
