A woman in her 80s has died after being hit by a car in West Malling High Street

An elderly woman has died after being involved in a road accident in West Malling.

The incident happened at around 9am on Friday, December 27 at the town's High Street.

It was reported that a grey Seat Leon was in collision with the 85-year-old woman, who lives locally, and was crossing the road.

She was rushed to a hospital in London by air ambulance but sadly passed away on Saturday.

Kent Police collision investigators are appealing for witnesses to come forward.

They would particularly like to speak with the driver of a dark coloured Volvo Estate who may have seen what happened.

CCTV footage shows the car turning right out of West Street, into the High Street at the time of the collision.

The High Street and West Street were closed as far as Norman Road and Offham Road while the scene was examined.
