Police called The Brenchley pub in Maidstone town centre

Drinkers found themselves being questioned after police swooped on a town centre pub.

Officers were called to The Brenchley pub in Jubilee Square after an allegation of theft was made.

Around seven officers went into the pub and two police cars were stationed outside.

It happened around 4pm on Monday and officers spoke to several people at tables, before taking a man was taken away in a police car.

A police spokesman said a man had been arrested.
