Kent Police reveal number of crashes during snow

Police have revealed the number of crashes reported to them during last week's snow.

Blizzards and ice created treacherous driving conditions across the county, leading to 188 collisions in a 29-hour period starting at 3pm on Thursday.

Of those 11 took place on the M20 and five on the M2.

There were a total of 11 crashes in Maidstone, including an incident where a car ploughed into a house in Lucerne Street on Thursday evening.

The white Fiat Punto careened through the front door of the property and a 22-year-old subsequently charged with drink driving.

In Detling, a car transporter slid off the road and crashed on Friday morning leading to the A249 being shut for most of the day.

The figures include all reported crashes, including those where police were not required to attend.
