Poodle in pews with parish pets at Boughton Monchelsea church

All creatures, great and small, howled their way through the song sheets at a church service especially for them.

Dozens of animals attended the service at St Peter’s Church, in Boughton Monchelsea, on Sunday afternoon. In the pews were dogs, guinea pigs, gerbils, tortoises, goats and a ferret.

The Rev Geoff Davis made the furry guests feel welcome with renditions of All Things Bright and Beautiful, Old MacDonald and If I Were a Butterfly. There was also a presentation from Bob Hitch, of Buttercup Goat Sanctuary, in Wierton Road.

The day was hailed a success, even by those who stayed behind to clear up the random puddles.
