Family of man found hanging from High Level Bridge in Maidstone's Fairmeadow informed of his death

Police have informed the family of a man found hanging from a footbridge near Maidstone town centre yesterday.

Kent Police attended the walkway of the High Level Bridge in Fairmeadow - the A229 - at 5.40pm.

The road was closed for an hour and a half while the body was removed, but reopened at 7.20pm.

Fire crews and ambulance staff were also on the scene.

The man was 45 and from the Maidstone area.

Police said officers are no longer investigating the man's death and a file has been passed to the coroner.
