Two lorries have crashed on the M20.

There are serious delays after the accident on the coastbound carriageway at junction 7 (A249 Detling Hill) at around 12.30pm today.

The incident is reported to have involved two lorries and is blocking all three carriageways.

It is not yet known what caused the collision.

A man sustained injuries, which are not believed to be life threatening, and has been taken to Maidstone Hospital.

The motorway between junctions five and eight coastbound has been closed while police investigate.

Motorists are being directed off from junction five to alternative routes. Cars can rejoin the motorway at junction eight.

Slip roads onto the M20 between junctions five and seven are also closed.

Lanes two and three of the closed section were expected to re-open at 5pm.

Lane one will remain closed until at least 9pm while the road is repaired.

Police are warning people to avoid the area.
