Finlay Frost from Snodland needs votes to continue in TeenStar talent contest

A Snodland teenager needs your votes to keep her singing dream alive.

Finlay Frost, 15, is taking part in TeenStar and hoping to follow in the footsteps of last year’s winner, Luke Friend, who went on to become an X Factor finalist.

The Holmesdale Technology School pupil travelled to Essex for her first audition, where she wowed judges with her rendition of Feeling Good by Michael Buble.

But after a narrow defeat in the regional finals in Southend on Saturday, she is relying on the public vote to go through as a wildcard.

She competed against more than 20 others in the live show, singing Grenade by Bruno Mars to a panel of industry judges, including DJs from Kiss FM, Choice FM and BBC Radio, as well as record label professionals.

But her supporting guitarist hit the wrong note at the beginning of the performance, a mistake she thinks cost her place in the final.

The teenager, who lives in Malling Road, said she first developed a love of singing when she was 10, adding: “I like to express myself through music. I’m learning the guitar and would love to be a professional singer.”

A £5,000 prize awaits the eventual winner, together with recording studio time and music development classes.

To vote for Finlay text Wildcard457 to 84222.
