Kent Police roads unit pull lorry driver over on M20 at Maidstone for 'fiddling'

A lorry driver pulled over after being seen swerving onto a motorway hard shoulder was found to be "fiddling" behind the wheel.

Officers from Kent Police's roads unit stopped the trucker on the coast-bound M20 between junctions 7 and 8 at about 4pm today.

They tweeted: "HGV driver dealt with for not being in proper control after weaving onto the hard shoulder while 'fiddling' #payattention".

He was given an on-the-spot £100 fine and three points on his licence for driving while not in proper control.

The post prompted a string of responses from curious tweeters, who asked what the driver was fiddling with.

User @mattobee said: "Is that a euphemism?" while @dazchild pondered: "I have seen people shaving but never have I seen anyone playing the fiddle."

The unit later clarified: "Whatever he was fiddling with, his hands were covered in blue ink!! #the mind boggles."
