Gale-force winds blew part of the Kent Pavilion down at the Kent Showground in Detling.

But organisers have denied that the building, which is a marquee, was blown away during the severe weather on Christmas Eve.

The Kent County Agricultural Society said work has now been carried out to make the site safe.

In a statement the society said: "No events have been cancelled and it is ‘business as usual’ for the Kent Event centre."

Work is currently underway on a £1.5m new building to replace it, which when it is completed in April will have seating for 4,000 people.
