Thieves swipe stag statues from Leeds Castle near Maidstone

Thieves bundled statues measuring four-feet tall into a car boot while at one of Kent's most popular attractions.

The theft, which allegedly happened at Leeds Castle near Maidstone, triggered a police appeal to help locate the pair of black cast iron stags.

It was carried out on Monday at 1.15pm.

Two men duo were arrested and charged in connection with the investigation but the statues have not been found.

Jonathan Fuller, 35, and Jack Denby, 30, both of Merchant’s Way, Canterbury, were charged with theft and have been bailed to appear before Maidstone Magistrates’ Court on June 22.
