A team set up to bring more cultural events to Maidstone has been awarded funding after proving a success this summer.

The Maidstone Town Team, which is a joint venture between Maidstone council and Maidstone Town Centre Management and is made up of volunteers, businesses and councillors, ran a series of free events in Jubilee Square over the summer, including public knitting, live music and dancing and other entertainment.

In response, Maidstone council has allocated £40,000.

Local agency Flowbox agency has also set up a website for the group, www.maidstonetownteam.co.uk.
