The County Town’s thriving nightime economy will be in the spotlight again tonight (Friday) when police commissioner Ann Barnes visits.

Mrs Barnes, who has recently appointed a new chief constable for the county, will be followed by cameras from Channel 4 as she observes policing in Maidstone town centre late into the night tonight.

The stop-off is one of a number of venues where she has been filmed this week as part of a documentary on police commissioners nationally. They were elected in November 2012.

Maidstone's successful partnership between police, volunters and pubs and clubs was also featured on television last year in an ITV documentary when Baroness Helen Newlove, the government's Champion for Active Safer Communities visited with a film crew.
