Trains suspended due to 'police incident' near Maidstone Barracks station

Trains in west Kent were suspended following concern for a man and woman on a bridge over the tracks.

As a result, no trains were running between Paddock Wood and Strood, with buses brought in to transport passengers.

The station closed at around 4.15pm and a roadblock was put in place on Buckland Hill.

An eyewitness said: "There were two people who jumped from the bridge in a hurry and landed on the pavement.

"One was wearing a pink hoodie and police were scrambling the minute they were off the bridge.

"It looked as if the people on the bridge had ran up Buckland Hill. A man was then escorted towards a police van."
