Two women hurt in car accident on M20 London-bound near juction 5 for Maidstone and 6 for Aylesford

Two female drivers have been injured in a motorway accident this morning.

A white Skoda Octavia and silver Ford Ka crashed at around 7.20am on the M20 London-bound, near junction 6 for Maidstone and 5 for Aylesford.

A police spokesman has described the injuries suffered as minor.

The accident blocked lane three of the motorway but police say the vehicles have now been moved to the hard shoulder.

The Highways Agency however has warned that there is some congestion on the motorway between junction 6 and 7.

This will add 15 minutes to journey time and should be clear by 10.30am.

Earlier this morning police were also called to the coast-bound stretch near junction 5.

A car had collided with a HGV, causing it to face the wrong way on the hard shoulder at 7.04am.

Police enforced a rolling road block to clear the scene and Highways crews are assessing damage to some barriers on the side of the carriageway.
